Shannon Walters

Shannon is a local physiotherapist with a special interest in paediatric and neurological rehabilitation. She completed her Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology and Physical Education (HBKin.) with a minor in music at Wilfrid Laurier University and her Masters of Science in Physiotherapy (MScPT) at McMaster University. She has worked as a physiotherapist with children both acutely, developmentally and with a rehabilitation focus, as well as in adult neurological rehabilitation. She is very excited to combine these unique focuses and offer specialized services to the community of North Middlesex.
As a physiotherapist, she loves treating newborns, toddlers and children because of their positivity, resiliency and determination. She is experienced treating individuals with a neurological diagnosis such as a spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and more. Shannon loves using science and creativity to think outside the box to assess and treat clients of all abilities and to help them achieve and succeed beyond their full potential and she can do the same for you and your family.
Along with her work at Damen Optimal Health & Fitness, Shannon works at Parkwood Institute, St. Joseph's Health Care London, as an international classifier with Wheelchair Rugby Canada and as an examiner with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. She has been a clinical associate lecturer at Western University's School of Physical Therapy and has worked in Search and Rescue with the Canadian Coast Guard. She holds post graduate certification and education in a variety of specialized neuro qualifications including paediatric neurodevelopment treatment (NDT), Xcite- Functional Electrical Stimulation, Body Weight Support Locomotor Training, Eksoskeleton, Lokomat robotic device, Arm & Leg FES cycle & gait (RT300/RT600), hydrotherapy, acupuncture, paediatric kinesiotaping, Urinary Incontinence Pelvic Health Level I, Soft Tissue Release Certification, McMaster Athletic Taping Certification & a National Coaching Certification (NCCP).
Shannon’s most significant and rewarding role as a wife and a momma to her three children gives her the inside knowledge on how to relate to you and your family's needs. She is excited to share her passion for helping others in her community!
